NORTHEAST

In Studio A at Sound on Sound (NYC), Carlos Santana was busy mixing his next album with engineers Salaam Remi and Jean-Marie Horvat. Boys II Men were crafting their next release with engineers Mark Pitts and Horvat. In Studio B at Sound on Sound, Mya was tracking and mixing with producer Nobody and engineer Doug Wilson for a forthcoming Interscope release…AOL/Spinner.com brought nearly a dozen different acts to Kampo Studios (NYC). The artists laid down some live sessions and taped interviews with host Chris Douridas. The list of artists included: Cornershop, LMNT, Michael Bolton, Sloan, NORE, Ben Kweller, Baha Men, Boyz II Men, Tift Merritt, James Taylor and Papa Roach. The sessions were engineered by Greg Thompson and assistants Alan Ford and Mike Bowden… Producer Rockwilde recently camped out at Mirror Image Recorders (NYC), handling sessions for NBC television and artists Nate Dogg, Beyonce and Mya…Swiss Artist Reto Burrell finished mixing his second full-length LP at Clubhouse (Rhinebeck, NY). Adam Steinberg produced with Paul Antonell mixing.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Atlantic artists Taproot recently finished up their sophomore album in Studio 1 at Cherokee Studios (West Hollywood) with producer Toby Wright and Elliot Blakey engineering. Also at Cherokee, punk band Ten Foot Pole began tracking their new record for Victory Records.

SOUTHEAST

Vince Gill was in at Seventeen Grand Recording (Nashville) working on his upcoming self-produced album on MCA. Steve Bishir and assistant Hank Nirider engineered the session. Travis Tritt and producer Billy Joe Walker also spent some time at Seventeen, tracking some new material with engineer Ed Seay and assistant engineer Rob Clark. Last May, Bruce Springsteen stopped in at Silent Sound Studios (Atlanta). The Boss was mixing two songs for his upcoming album, The Rising, with producer/engineer Brendan O'Brien. Craig Taylor assisted on the sessions.

SOUTHWEST

Reelsound Recording (Austin, TX) was tapped to capture George Strait's Farewell concert at the Houston Astrodome. Tony Brown produced the effect with engineers Malcolm Harper and Mat Leroy…Local band Matthews Granade cut their latest release at Sugar-Hill Recording Studios (Houston). Mark “Sparky” Matejka from the Charlie Daniels Band was brought in to cut additional guitar tracks. The project was self-produced by bandmembers William Matthews and Mason Granade and engineered by SugarHill's Andy Bradley…The Roustabouts recently completed their full-length debut for Haunted Town Records at AKS Recording (Oklahoma City). Producer/engineer Wes Sharon tracked and mixed the project and was assisted by Paul Courtney.

NORTHWEST

Kingpin Hayes was recently at Ironwood Studios (Seattle) tracking their upcoming release on Humble Rocks! Records. The session was engineered by Donn DeVore, and the record is being co-produced by Hayes, DeVore and Travis Luther.
