Vibist Bobby Hutcherson and Joey DeFrancesco (right), cool off at Tempest Recording after working on Organic Vibes.

Hammond B3 soloist Joey DeFrancesco stopped at Tempest Recording in Tempe, Ariz., to record material for his new Concord Jazz disc, Organic Vibes. He brought in not only a 1959 B3 belonging to another master jazz organist, the late Jimmy Smith, but also an ace band that included Jake Langley on guitar, Bobby Hutcherson on vibes, George Coleman on tenor saxophone, Ron Blake on saxophone and Byron Landham on drums. Studio owner Clarke Rigsby engineered the album; Seth Plesant mixed.
