The reburbished Pool Studio re-opened with a new design and vintage gear.
This past September marked the grand re-opening of London's unique The Pool studio (www.miloco.co.uk/studios/pool). The facility was redesigned and rebuilt, and now includes an expanded control room that overlooks the live room, where a drum booth was also added.
The new control room is situated at the front of the studio on what was the loading bay; it's built around a 30-channel EMT console and Genelec 1031 monitors. Also on hand is an impressive collection of vintage analog outboard gear. Acoustic panels are covered with blue fabric (carrying on the pool theme); other improvements include new AC and lighting, and a new high-def flatscreen TV.
The Pool is run by Miloco, which owns numerous other studios in the UK and abroad, including The Square, The Garden, Assault & Battery and The Engine Room. A “Refurb Blog” on the studio's Website offers an insider's view of the studio renovations.
