Good Shepherd’s new main sanctuary, equipped with a dV-DOSC system

Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Charlotte, N.C., has expanded its existing facility with the addition of a new worship center, equipped with an L-Acoustics dV-DOSC system.

Clark Powell, a design-build AV integrator with seven offices throughout the Carolinas, was selected to provide the audio/video systems design and installation for the new 750-seat, fan-shaped room. The firm suggested the dV-DOSC system, which includes a total of 16 dV-DOSC loudspeakers plus four dV-SUBs that are flown above the front-left and right sides of the stage. Two ceiling-mounted MTD112b coaxial loudspeakers fire down on the rear area of the stage for choir fill, while four additional MTD112b enclosures are found on the stage for monitoring.

Systems Designer Chris Dunegan reports, “We initially selected the dV-DOSC because its compact size fit the room well; we could get the right curve out of the arrays without compromising sight lines. The coverage—both horizontal and vertical—is extremely precise. The coverage is exactly as the Soundvision acoustic modeling software predicted, and every seat is a good one.”

In other L-Acoustics news, the company has released a new series of preset libraries for its V-DOSC, dV-DOSC, KUDO, ARCS and XT enclosures.

The newly updated V7 presets, which can be downloaded from the Technical Support section of the L-Acoustics Website (www.l-acoustics.com), include the following changes: dV-SUB delay and polarity have been unlocked for all dV-DOSC three- and four-way presets; Lake Contour preset libraries have been reworked to unlock subwoofer polarity (compatible with the new Lake Contour Controller V3.2 software release; Preset library files are introduced that allow BSS 366 units to be programmed via BSS London software.

In response to a demand for XTA DP428 support, presets for this processor are currently available as an alpha version release on a “per request” basis by directly contacting L-Acoustics’ David Brooks at [email protected].
