On the sound inside the House of Representatives Rydstrom: They shot house scene in the old Virginia statehouse. In general, they shot a lot of things in natural locations rather than on sets—except the White House. That statehouse had a nice natural echo and then it was fun to add a little extra space to it. But my favorite sounds in the House was not the ambience of room, but the shifting of hundreds of men in their chairs, which part Foley, but Ben Burtt also got a bunch of students from a college to go to some equivalent space and recorded them moving around in old wooden chairs, getting up and sitting down. There’s a real distinct sound to that—slamming on the desks and fidgeting in their chairs.
