UK’s MPG Awards Name Production Winners

Upstarts and legends honored at Music Producers Guild’s annual event in London.

London, UK (March 1, 2019)—James Ford, Matt Wiggins and Strongroom Studios were among the big winners at last night’s (February 28) 2019 MPG Awards, held by the UK’s Music Producers Guild. The annual ceremony, which took place at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, saw a host of big names turn out to celebrate the studio sector’s biggest achievements over the past 12 months.

Arctic Monkeys producer James Ford scooped the coveted UK Producer of the Year, while Matt Wiggins won Recording Engineer of the Year and Strongroom was crowned Studio of the Year.

Elsewhere, Dani Bennett Spragg was named Breakthrough Recording Engineer of the Year with David Wrench emerging victorious in the Mix Engineer of the Year category.

Grime icon Skepta was honoured with the 2019 Inspiration Award, while legendary producer Hugh Padgham received the Outstanding Contribution to UK Music Award.

This year’s Special Recognition Award went to Rockfield Studios founder Kingsley Ward.
