Studio Trilogy, a three-room studio complex located in San Francisco’s SOMA (South-of-Market) district, recently installed a 32-channel API 1608 console accompanied by a custom-built Sterling Modular frame. The studio worked with Ryan McGuire of Vintage King Audio, a leading dealer of high-end new and vintage recording equipment, on the purchases and installation.

“We consulted with several engineers and producers before selecting our new console,” says Studio Trilogy’s Justin Lieberman. “It seemed pretty unanimous that the API was the best choice for us and really diversified our facility. Studio Trilogy now has three unique rooms that all have their own character.”
“The first session we did at Studio Trilogy with our new API was a large scale percussion tracking session for a San Francisco Bay Area videogame giant for one of their upcoming games,” says Cindy McSherry-Martinez, Studio Trilogy’s business operations manager.
The session brought together established artists and an elite music supervision team to collaborate on a blockbuster title. Studio Trilogy reports that the artists on the session were Brain (Guns ‘N’ Roses, Primus, Tom Waits, Praxis, Mirv, Limbomaniacs); Jonathan Mayer; Tim Davies (Despicable Me, David Archuleta, Sara Bareilles); and Jim Dooley (Spider Man 3, The Da Vinci Code, Madagascar).
Engineered by Marc Senasac, Joel Yarger and Studio Trilogy’s Justin Lieberman, the sessions involved three separate drum kits that were all miked and ready to go at any time. According to Lieberman, “The console handled the routing perfectly while leaving the unmistakable API ‘punch’ on all of the tracks. Everyone involved was thrilled with the results.”
Studio Trilogy also has an SSL 9000 K console and an Avid ICON D-Control ES. It features two tracking rooms, four integrated isolation booths, multiple lounges, an outdoor garden and barbecue area, and a luxury client apartment.
