“American Idol” Star Performs with Custom Dynamic M80
Singer, songwriter and voice actress Haley Reinhart first rose to prominence after placing third in the tenth season of American Idol. In 2011, Reinhart released her debut album, “Listen Up!” to critical acclaim and she subsequently became the first American Idol alumna to perform at Lollapalooza.
Reinhart’s recent Concord Records debut, “What’s That Sound,” combined original tracks with covers of iconic songs from the late 1960s. It was recorded at the historic Sunset Sound in Hollywood and mixed by Bill Schnee, a Grammy winner known for his work with Marvin Gaye, Rod Stewart, and Steely Dan. The album was recorded to tape and performed solely with vintage instruments.
“Recording analog makes such a difference and adds a warmth that you just don’t hear that often anymore,” says Reinhart. “I had the pleasure of using the Telefunken 251 to record the vocals and It is by far the most crystal-clear studio mic I’ve ever used. Instead of a compression effect, it’s amazing how it captured and brought out all of the unique nuances in my voice.”
Reinhart has massively expanded her devoted fanbase (or “Haliens”) and now boasts 444k+ Facebook likes, 205k+ Twitter followers, and 115k+ Instagram followers, as well as over 3.8 million Vevo views and more than 1.9 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Reinhart received a Gold Record from RIAA, a Clio Award, and a Women In Sync Award for her rendition of the hit single “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley, which was also featured in the viral commercial for Wrigley’s Extra Gum.
In addition to collaborating with legendary musicians across many genres (including Tony Bennett, Slash, David Foster, and Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra), she’s brought her spirited live performance to festivals such as Lollapalooza and the New Orleans Jazz Fest. Reinhart completed her second headlining U.S. tour and her first headlining European tour last year. She has also been touring for over 3 years domestically and internationally with viral sensation, Postmodern Jukebox. Her collaborative videos with this group have accumulated over 100 million views on YouTube.
“It was such a neat experience using Telefunken’s classic white M80 on tour,” commented Reinhart. “It’s clarity really allowed me to play with the mic and work its magic, just like any other instrument. From smooth to smoky pipes, the Telefunken brings out true character. So happy we found each other.”
